Well, for all 3 of you who visit my site, my Sims 3 Travelling Tips went down surprisingly well. I decided then to run a new “feature” – every now and again, I’ll publish a list of tips and tricks that work for me in various games.
Oh hey look at that, I got some for you today
Read on for my Divinity II: Ego Draconis tips.
- When travelling in the Broken Valley, when you cross a bridge, sometimes you’ll be asked if you’re interested in purchasing land. Say no. A quick mind-read will reveal that this eager salesman is a conman.
- If you meet a man named Casper, if you like him, don’t kill any chickens on the map. He has been soul-bound with one, which means if “that” chicken dies, so will he. For those after a fairly easy achievement, go right ahead.
- If you absolutely must mind-read everyone you meet, do so before embarking on any quests or killing any monsters. When you mind-read, you use some experience to do so, varying on your level, skill in mind-reading and the individual (as the in-game help puts it, it’s harder to read the mind of a master wizard than of Doris, the cleaning lady.) Doing all the mind-reading first, according to rumours, means that ultimately you gain more experience. Since there’s only a finite amount of monsters and quests, you want to make the most of it.
- Complete every quest before going to claim the Battle Tower – once the tower’s yours, you can’t go back to Broken Valley since you’ll be so hated.
- If you see a red bubble, do not enter it as a dragon – it’s safe to go in on foot, though. It’s anti-dragon field and it near-enough instant kills you. Damien’s forces are particularly fond of these things!
- Sky diving is fun.
- If you fly as fast as you can then change into a human, you’ll be propelled forward a little.
- When falling, jump is still acknowledged though mostly overpowered by gravity – it stalls the fall for a split second and helps move forward.
- You can use this to enter the dock-town quicker – change then smash the jump button. With a little luck, you’ll land on actual land instead of water (if you land in water, you have to swim around toward the hill, there’s a wooden pier-like thing to help you out)
- The game hates you. Therefore, save every few ENEMIES.
- If there are a lot of enemies bunched together that you’re struggling with, you can walk slowly toward them, but not all of them will notice you at the same time. When a couple start running toward you, run back the way you came, as if you fight on the edge of “noticed” by the rest of the group, they’ll all come flooding. Kill off the few, save, then go draw out some more.
- The ghost is more helpful than the undead and demon as it can heal, so prioritise maxing it out
- As soon as it is available, learn Fire Wall. When dealing with large groups that like to flood you, unleashing a Wall will damage all within its radius with constant fire damage…and no new opponents will enter. Be warned that this only gives you a few seconds at first.
- Don’t bother buying equipment – you’ll get some ridiculously awesome stuff just by playing.
- It’s entirely possible to clear the Broken Valley map of all monsters, then go on to the Fjords and clear all the monsters there to gain a massive amount of exp, but again, according to rumours and theories, you decrease the total exp gain. Do the areas in order.
- When you earn your tower, there’s a certain lady waiting on the balcony in your chambers, with an excellent selection of potions. Buy up as many as you can as if memory serves, she sells the BEST ones.
- The game hates you and will lure you into a false sense of security – the bosses are always disproportionately difficult compared to the rest of the area.
- Be patient. This game provides some inane challenges, and the controls are little wonky (on the Xbox, at least…) Keep at it.
- The potions are not instant-heal. They take time to apply. Plan accordingly.
