I went paintballing yesterday, by the way. I don’t know if the rules we played by were the usual ones (head shot or paintball didn’t go off = no kill, shot on torso, legs, arms or equipment = kill.) but I had fun…when I wasn’t being pelted with paint.

Hit Count (on me)

Face: 5 times, all in final free-for-all (where there are no kills, as it’s just to get rid of any ammo left over from previous matches; I had just bought 500 so me and my brothers and dad were so freaking chuffed.)

Chest: 1 non-kill

Hands: 6 or 7 no kills (5 or 6 of those being during the FFA)

Back: 2 non-kills, 1 kill

Elbow: 1 uncertain (it was raining hard so we couldn’t tell, but I took it as a kill to play it safe)

Legs: 1 non-kill (though it gave me a dead leg!)

Equipment: 1 kill, 2 or 3 non-kills

Hit Count (from me)

Chest: 1 kill, 2 non-kill (all in a row; the first one splattered so the other 2 that also went off don’t count)

Face: 1 hit (I think. Pretty sure it went off, but I couldn’t see clearly through the rain.)

Bruise Count: None (on me, my brother got a nasty mark on his chin, and I’m sure my other brothers, dad, uncle and cousins all have a few bruises, since as they put it, they went “gung ho!” while I took a defensive position.

I also survived about 3 matches right to the end (though the 3 shots to the back were all in the last 30 seconds of one, so it would’ve been 4 if someone had been defending the window behind me

I also walked away with a big streak of yellow paint across my forehead where it had leaked inside my mask, slightly dyed hair and paint splatter on my glasses, of all places. I also got some in my mouth, which my dearest cousin just said “oh, that was suicide. She was determined not to be taken alive.”

How I would have done in an actual combat situation: lose several fingers in the first few seconds, be shot repeatedly more times than could be actually included in the above tally, before being headshot and dying.

Got back and found I could hardly walk anymore, could barely see through my glasses, and ache like nobodys business, and the coldness effected me a lot more once we were no longer running around (screaming in terror, in my case)

Long story short, I had a great time…being target practice.
